        30/100 x + 20 = 40/100 x - 40

        1/10 x = 60

          x = 600.

(30%  of  600) + 20 = (30/100 * 600 + 20)  

= 200.

Pass % = (200/600 * 100)%

= 33.3 (or)33 1/3.
