Let the age of son be x years.
Then age of father would be ( 4 times of x) 〓 4x years.
Four years hence,
Age of son 〓 ( x + 4) years.
Age of father 〓 ( 4x + 4) years.
According to the question,
Sum of their ages 〓 ( x + 4) + ( 4x + 4) years. 〓 5x + 8 years 〓 43 years.
If 5x + 8 〓 43 years.
5x 〓 43 - 8 〓 35 years.
X 〓 ( 35 / 7 ) 〓 5 years.
Therefore, the present age of son is 5 years.

Let Ramlal’s age be R and that of his son, S, now.
R = 4S
R+4+S+4 = 43, or
R+S = 35
4S+S=35
5S=35
S=7
