Given  : Ramps in a parking garage need to be steep. The maximum safe incline for a ramp is 8.5 degrees

To find :  Ramp is Safe or not

Solution:

Let say Steep angle  = α

Tanα = 15/95

=> Tanα = 3/19

=> Tanα = 0.158

=> α = Tan⁻¹(0.158)

=> α =  8.98°

8.98°  >  8.5°  (maximum safe incline )

Hence  ramp is not safe

Tan (8.5) ≈ 0.15

making base > 100 or

Making Height < 14.25  will make ramp safe
