Given:

  • Ramu bought -  4 {\frac{3}{7}} m
  • Raju bought -  3 {\frac{3}{4}} m

To find:

Who bought more rope and by how many meters.

Solution:

Converting mixed fraction into improper fraction:

  • 4 \frac{3}{7}  =  \frac{31}{7}
  • 3 \frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{15}{4}

LCM of the denominators 4 and 7 is 28.

 →\frac{31 \times 4}{7 \times 4}

 →\frac{15 \times 7}{4 \times 7}

 →\frac{124}{28}

 →\frac{105}{28}

Now, since,

 \frac{124}{28}  >  \frac{105}{28} and,

 \frac{124 - 105}{28} = \frac{19}{28}

Hence, Ramu bought more rope by 19/28m.
