Epiglottis , a flap like muscular valve controls movement of air towards respiratory passage. Yes raju is wright . Talking or laughing while eating results in the opening of epiglottis ( that ptevents the entry of food into the air passes). This causes the entry of food into the wind pipe and causes chocking.

the epiglottis attached behind the tongue which blocks the entrance 2 the trachea when food in swallowed thus protecting the lungs by forcing the food 2 pass over the trachea &instead go down esophagus into the stomach. if u talk while eating & u happen 2 be a toddler.
