as Average speed= total distance/ total time

so, distance travelled in first 3 sec = 40×3=120m
distance travelled in 4sec = 30×4=120 m

so, total distance=120+120=240m
total time= 3+4=7sec

so, average speed=240/7=34.285 m/s
