Ranga's marriage is a story about the values of village, their belief in astrology and myths and their emotions related to it. We find instances from the story which tells about the belief of village people in myths and astrological hypocrisy These believes are inculcated even in the new generations.
Ranga was a man with modern thoughts and did not believe in such things.
He even did not believed in marrying a very young girl who is not even mature enough. He found it better to remain bachelor than to marry an immature girl. Narrator, being a religious and ritualistic person did not like his decision at all. The person he thought would be the best husband did not wanted to marry at all. So he made a plan.
The narrator introduced him with Ratna. He fell in love with her as soon as he saw her. The narrator had met Shastri an astrologer, and had taught him about what he wanted him to speak in front of Ranga. Then the narrator took Ranga to Shastri who said that the cause of Ranga's worry was a girl. Ranga didn't believe in astrology but he started to believe in it as he got that Shastri has told the correct thing.
