Bryophyta is referred as a division of the Plant kingdom and it comprises of Hornworts, mosses and Liverworts.

These are the groups of the green plants which can occupy the position between the vascular cryptogams (Pteridophytes) and thallophytes (Algae).

They can produce the embryos but lack the vascular tissues and seeds. They are also referred as the first non-vascular land plants.
