Rani has a photo frame withou a photo in the shape of a triangle with sides a,b,c in length. She wants
to find the perimeter of a triangle formed by joining the mid-points of the sides of the photo-frame.
She could not understand how to overcome this problem. /she shares this problem with her Sonia.
Sonia helps her and the required perimeter is computed.
i) Find the perimeter of the triangle formed by joining the mid-points of the frame.
ii) Which mathematical concept is used in the above problem?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

sides of a photo frame are a,b &c

Let consider PQ & R be the end points of photo frame and MN & O be the mid points of line a,b & c respectively,

Now, Rani want to know the perimeter of ΔMNO , however she could not understand. She took help of Sonia and to Sonia computed as below:

Using Mid point Theorem of Triangle,

ii) Mathematical Concept Used "A line joining the mid points of a  triangle is exactly half of the length of third side and is parallel to third side"

i.e.

Line MO= half of b

Line MN= half of c

Line ON= half of a

Perimeter of MNO= sum of side MN, ON & MO

i.e.

Perimeter of MNO= a/2+b/2+c/2

i) Perimeter of MNO=(a+b+c)/2

ii) Mid point Theorem
