SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

Ranjan's monthly income is 20% more than the monthly income of Sarita what percent of Sarita's income is less than Ranjan's monthly income

EVALUATION

Here it is given that Ranjan's monthly income is 20% more than the monthly income of Sarita

Let monthly income of Sarita = Rs. 100

So monthly income of Ranjan = Rs. 120

So the amount Sarita's income is less than Ranjan's monthly income

= Rs. 120 - 100

= Rs. 20

So the required percentage

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{20}{120} \times 100 \:  \% }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{1}{6} \times 100 \:  \% }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{100}{6}  \:  \% }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{50}{3}  \:  \% }

 \displaystyle \sf{ = 16 \frac{2}{3}  \:  \% }

Answer:

16.667%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Sarita's monthly income be Rs. x

Let Rajan's monthly income be Rs. (20% of x+ x)

Rajan's monthly income= (20x/100)+ x = (x/5)+x= 6x/5

Difference between their incomes= (6x/5)-x = x/5

%age by which Sarita's income is less than that of Rajan= (Difference between their incomes/ Income of Rajan) × 100 =(x/5÷6x/5)× 100 = 16.667%

Hope it helps ☺
