As we know that, all angles of a equilateral triangle are of 60°.
So,
a = 180 - x (Linear pair)
b = 180 - y (Linear pair)
Also, x + y + z = 180 (Angle sum property of triangle)
since, z = 60
so,
x + y = 180 - 60
x + y = 120
x = 120 - y
y = 120 - x
So,
a = 180 - 120 - y
a = 60 - y
b = 180 - 120 - x
b = 60 - x
Therefore,
Value of a and b is smaller or equal to 60°.
