 “Rapid increase of population disturbs the biotic environment.” This statement can be justified because of the following reasons:

(i) Rapid increase in population leads to deforestation as more space is required to build houses, which disturbs the oxygen-carbon dioxide balance in nature and causes soil erosion.

(ii) Rapid increase in population causes an increased pollution due to increased number of vehicles on roads and factories. Also, more sewage is generated whose disposal poses a major problem. Pollution disturbs the biotic environment.
