Right, it's true. Because due to industrialization many factories and companies, buildings, wastes are formed.Due to these factory creates a large amount of waste materials which is released later in rivers which are the most important source of water.

Rapid industrialization is a major cause of water pollution because the industrial effluents(waste) is being disposed in the water bodies. The increase in the number of industries also increases the water pollution as the disposal of industrial effluents(waste) in the water bodies.
