When the Cross sectional area of the water tank is very large compared to area of hole(orifice), We neglect its ratio. Therefore
we can take speed of efflux v = √2gh.
Here h = 5m
Thus v = √2×9.8×5 = √98 m/s
Rate of flow, Q = Area of hole × velocity of water flowing through the hole.
Thus rate of flow = 3.14 × 4× 10^-6×√98
= 124.3 × 10^-6 cubic metre/s
