This is the case of speed of efflux.

When the Cross sectional area of the water tank is very large compared to area of hole(orifice), We neglect its ratio. Therefore

we can take speed of efflux v = 2gh.

Here h = 5m

Thus v = 2×9.8×5 = 98 m/s

Rate of flow, Q = Area of hole × velocity of water flowing through the hole.

Thus rate of flow = 3.14 × 4× 10^-6×98

= 124.3 × 10^-6 cubic metre/s
