Answer:

Given, the height of entire top = 5 cm and the diameter of top = 3.5 cm

∴ radius of hemisphere = \frac{3.5}{2} =1.75

As both the hemisphere and cone are on the same base, therefore, 

radius of hemisphere = radius of cone = 1.75 cm

Now the height of cone
= height of top – radius of hemisphere
= (5 – 1.75) cm = 3.25 cm

In order to calculate the area of which Rasheed has to colour, we have to find out the sum of curved surface area of both the cone and the hemisphere.

∴ Area coloured = C.S.A of cone + C.S.A. of Hemisphere = πrl + 2πr2
 
 = \pi \: r(l + 2r)

 |l = \sqrt{ {r}^{2} + {h }^{2} } \\ \: \: \: \: = \sqrt{ {(1.75) }^{2} + {(3.25)}^{2} } \\ \: \: \: = \sqrt{13.625} \\ \ \: \: = 3.69|

 = \frac{22}{7} \times 1.75(3.69 + 2 \times 1.75) \\ \\ = ( \frac{22}{7} \times 1.75 \times 7.19) {cm}^{2} \\ \\ = 39.54 {cm}^{2}
