Diffusion means spreading out and intermixing of particles from one substance to another substances due to movement of particles.
Particles of matter move from a region of higher concentration region to a lower concentration region till uniform distribution is attained.
Diffusion occurs in Solids, liquids and gases .

Rate of diffusion in gases is high because they have large intermolecular space and they posses more kinetic energy than liquids and gases.

Example:
We can smell the perfume sitting several meters away due to diffusion in gases.

diffusion in gases are very. This is because the particle in gases moves faster in all direction and also because of more intermolecular spaces between the molecules.
