The answer is 5:2

GIVEN

Volumes, 1litre and 400ml

To find

The ratio in simplest form

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that ratio is the representation of how much of one substance is present in another.

If A and B are two quantities then the ratio of A to B is given as A/B

Now,

We are given two quantities of fluid; 1 litre and 400ml

Before finding the ratio we will convert them into similar units.

We can write 1 litre as 1000 ml

Let,

A = 1000ml

B = 400 ml

A:B = 1000/400

On further simplification;

1000/400 = 5/2

= 5:2

Hence, The answer is 5:2
