Area of triangle=1/2*base*height

Given

Heights are equal,

Base of smaller triangle =16 cm

(*less area triangle)

so

Ratio of areas=Ratio of bases

 \frac{4}{5}  =  \frac{16}{base}

Base of larger triangle=20cm

base of smaller traingle is equal to 16.

ratio of area= 4:5

base is same..

smaller triangle 1/2*b*h= 1/2*b*16= 8b

other triangle = 1/2*b*h= 1/2*b*x(unknown)= bx/2

ratio= (8b)÷ (bx/2)

16/x= 4/5( given ratio)

16*5= 4x

80= 4x

x= 80/4

x= 20.
