ANSWER: 9 (base of larger triangle)

area of triangle= 1/2bh

area of 1st triangle: 1/2bh =2x

1/2 × 6 × h=2x

3h=2x

h= 2x/3 (eq 1)

area of 2nd triangle: 1/2 × b × 2x/3 = 3x

b=9

OR

Since we know that heights are equal in these two triangles, the ratio of the bases and areas will be the same. So,

2:3::6:x

2x=18

x=9
