In a mixture of 35 litres, the ratio of milk to water is 4: 1. If 7 litres of water is added to the
mixture, find the ratio of milk and water in the resulting mixture.​

IN The mixture of 35 liter, ratio of milk to water is 4:1 .Therefore,

Milk = 4×35/4+1

=4 ×35/5

=28 litres.

And water = 35 - 28 = 7 litres.

After addition of 7 litres of water to the original mixtures, the new volume of the mixture = 35 +7 = 42 litres and the new volume of water = 7+7 =14 litres. volume of milk remains unchanged at 42 - 14 = 28 litres.

It follows that ratio of milk to water is in the new mixture = 28 /14 = 2 : 1.
