⭐Basically we know that .... A light is form of Energy which is transverse in nature ..means that it does not need any type of medium to be travel along ....

⭐Now actually when the light passes from one optical medium to another optical medium ..which can be rarer or denser than the initial medium ...


⭐Then the particles of the light wave changes their velocity due to the change in the travelling medium ...thus there is a sudden bend in the light ....


⭐this is called as the REFRACTION OF LIGHT ...

⭐SO ACTUALLY the ratio of change of speed of light I vacuum to that of the medium is called as the ⭐REFRACTIVE INDEX OF THE MEDIUM ⭐....

the ratio is speed of light in vacuum to that in medium is called refraction of light as light moves towards the normal when it is passing from rarer medium to denser medium....
