3/4 - 2/3 = 9-8/12 = 1/12
x is the number that needs to be subtracted from 1/12 to get -1/6 :-

1/12 - x = -1/6

-x = -1/6 - 1/12 = - 2- 1/12 = -3/12 = -1/4

-x = -1/4 ⇒ x = 1/4
