Answer: i order to take rationalization u need to follow the given steps :

lets suppose i have   1 /  1+ iota

Step-1 :

             1/ 1+ iota = 1/ 1+ iota * 1- iota / 1 - iota

step 2 : we will multiply upper and lower terms

step 3: we will get our final by following 2nd step

which is :  1 - iota / 1-(-1) =     1 - iota / 2  

basically it us rationalization of denominator here in this example
