Hi ,

√5 = 2.236 ,

√10 = 3.162

40/( √40 - √80 )

= 40/ [ ( √2×2×10 ) - ( √4×4×5 ) ]

= 40/[2√10 - 4√5 ]

= 40/ [ 2( √10 - 2√5 ) ]

= 20/[ √10 - 2√5 ]

= [ 20 ( √10 + 2√5 ) ]/[(√10-2√5)(√10+2√5)]

= [20( √10 + 2√5 ]/[ ( √10 )² - ( 2√5 )² ]

= [ 20(√10 + 2√5 ) ]/( 10 - 20 )

= [ 20 ( √10 + 2√5 ) ]/( -10 )

= ( - 2 ) ×( √10 + 2√5 )

= ( -2 )×( 3.162 + 2 × 2.236 )

= ( -2 ) × ( 3.162 + 4.472 )

= ( -2 ) × 7.634

= - 15.268

I hope this helps you.
