So, he needs to get the information about the marks of Science subject obtained by the students of class IX and X and then he would find the total number of students of both the sections to calculate the average.

Thus, the formula so formed would be :

∴ Average  = $\frac{Marks obtained by the students of class IX}{Total no. of students in class IX}$

and

∴ Average = $\frac{Marks obtained by the students of class X}{Total no. of students in class X}$
