Answer:
Given :- Ravi runs at a speed of 45 m/min. After 6 minutes, Siva starts chasing Ravi at a speed of 60 m/min. A dog starts running along with Siva at a speed of 80 m/min.
If the dog reaches Ravi and comes back to Siva, and goes back to Ravi, and so on and so forth, until Siva meets Ravi . Then find the total distance covered by the dog in metres.
Solution :-
given that,
→ speed of Ravi = 45m/min.
and,
→ time for which ravi runs alone = 6 minutes
So,
→ Distance cover by Ravi = Speed * Time = 45 * 6 = 270 m.
we can say that, now distance ravi and siva is 270 m .
Now,
→ Speed of siva = 60m/min.
→ speed of ravi = 45m/min.
So,
→ usual speed of both = 60 - 45 = 15 m/ min. (since in same direction.)
So,
→ Time taken by siva to chase ravi = (Distance b/w them) / (usual speed) = 270/15 = 18 min.
Therefore , we can conclude that, The dog spends the same amount of time from ravi to siva before siva chase ravi..
Given that, speed of dog is 80m/min.
So,
→ in the time siva take to chase ravi, total distance covered by dog = Speed * Time = 80 * 18 = 1440 m.
Hence, the total distance covered by the dog is 1440 m.
Hope it helped you!!!!
