Ravi's father is 3 times older than Ravi. If the sum of their ages is 56, find their present ages

Let Ravi's age be x

Ravi's father age be 3x

According to the question

x+3x=56

4x=56

x=456

x=14

3x=42

Therefore, Ravi's age is 14 years and his father's age is 42 years.
