The reason for sowing cotton and groundnut together are the benefits of mixed cropping. Here one plant supports the other.
The excellent yields based on the following advantages:
•Both plants positively or negatively influence each other.
•Due to complimentary effect of component crops, yield of both crops is increased.
•Fertility of soil is improved by growing two crops simultaneously.
•Chances of pest reduction are greatly reduced.
•Risk of total crop failure due to uncertain monsoon is reduced.

Answer:
- Explanation: mainly because groundnut plants are leguminous plants and as we know that leguminous plants have nitrogen fixing bacteria at their root nodules; here when groundnut is grown there will be nitrogen fixed in the soil and when the cotton crops are grown here they get nice N(nitrogen) and thus grow in a healthy way
hope it helps you
thankyou
