Answer:

The cost of the watch is Rs.2142.55.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Ravi sold a watch to sudhir at a profit of 6%. Sudhir then sold it to Gopal at a loss of 5%. If Gopal paid ₹2014 for the watch.

To find : How much the watch cost to Ravi?

Solution :

In case 1 -

Selling price = ₹2014 , Profit = 6%

The cost price is

CP=\frac{100\times SP}{100+P\%}

CP=\frac{100\times 2014}{100+6}

CP=\frac{201400}{106}

CP=1900

In case 2 -

Selling price = ₹2014 , Loss = 5%

The cost price is

CP=\frac{100\times SP}{100-L\%}

CP=\frac{100\times 2014}{100-6}

CP=\frac{201400}{94}

CP=2142.55

The cost of the watch is Rs.2142.55.
