mostly insects love to  live in vaporous atmosphere.in cotton fields there are some weeds which are affected by water. Due to vaporous condition insects attack on  them as compared to other weeds which  are not affected by water  or any other liquid are not attacked by insects because insects just love to live in vaporous atmosphere.

This happens because the weeds take away all the nutrition from that of the soil.

Hence, the plants are deprived of the nutrition and lack to counter the insects.

This is the reason that insects were unable to affect the weeds but were able to destroy only the crops and the cotton leaves.
