(a)

15 bags of rice ——- 27 bags of flour

5 bags of rice ——- 9 bags of flour

1 bag of rice ——- 1 bag of flour + 2.6

5 bags of rice ——- 5 bags of flour + 2.6 x 5 = 5 bags of flour + 13

5 bags of flour + 13 ——- 9 bags of flour

1 bag of flour ——- 13/(9 – 5) = 3.25

1 bag of rice ——- 3.25 + 2.6 = 5.85

(b)

5 x (5.85 + 3.25) = 45.5

Ans : (a) 5.85 kg; (b0 45.5 kg.

Information:

weight of 15 bags of rice = weight of 27 bags of flour

1 bag of rice weighs 2.6kg more than 1 bag of flour

Solution:

a)

2.6kg x 15 = 39kg

This means 15 bags of flour weighs 39kg less than 15 bags of rice.

So the difference of 27 bags of flour to 15 bags of flour = 39kg

12 bags of flour = 39kg

so, 1 bag of flour = 3.25kg

Therefore 1 bag of rice weigh 3.25kg + 2.6kg = 5.85kg

b)

Total weight = (5 x 5.85kg) + (5 x 3.25kg) = 29.25kg + 16.25kg = 45.5kg
