\sf\underline{Step-by-step \: explanation}

As the broker charges 2.5 % of the whole amount,

Given,

The broker took = Rs.6500

Brokerage = 2.5 %

If the 2.5 % of the total amount is Rs. 6500 then the whole amount will be,

Setting up an equation,

 \tt\dfrac{2.5}{100}  \:  \times  \: x \:  =  \: 6500

Solving it,

 \tt\dfrac{25}{1000} x \:  =  \: 6500

Q - Why 100》 1000 and 2.5 》25?

Ans - To remove the decimals and that's why we multiplied both the numbers with 10.

6500000 = 25x (Cross multiplied it)

260000 = x

Hence, the cost of the whole house was,
