ray of light is incident on the plane surface of a transparent medium at an angle 60° with

the normal. The angle of refraction is 30°. Calculate the refractive index of the transparent

material.​

Angle of incidence, < i = 45°

Angle of refraction, <r = (45-15) = 30°

Now applying Snell's law we can get ,

Refractive index, μ = Sin i / Sin r

your answer is sin45/sin30

= 2/√2
