Answer:

Explanation:

refractive index of the second medium (glycerin) with respect to first medium (glass) = refractive index of glass /refractive index of glycerin

          = 1.5 / 1.47

           = 1.020

Refractive index of glycerin with respect to glass is 0.98.

Given :

Absolute refractive index of glass is 1.5.

Refractive index of Glycerine:- 1.47.

To Find :

Refractive index of glycerin with respect to glass.

Solution :

Consider the :

The glass as medium 1 and glycerin as medium 2.

Absolute refractive index of glass as n¹ = 1.5 n1

»› 1.5

Absolute refractive index of glycerin, as n2 = 1.47 n2

»› 1.47

Refractive index of glycerin with respect to glass as : n²¹ = n 21

So,

=> n^2/n^1

=> n²/n 1

=> 1.47/1.7

=> 1.47/1.5

0.98

Hence, Refractive index of glycerin with respect to glass is 0.98.
