Razi throws two dice. find the probability that:
a)the numbers are the same
b)the difference between the two numbers is 2

the number of possible outcomes when razi throws two dice are {(1,1)(1,2)(1,3)(1,4)(1,5)(1,6)(2,1)(2,2)(2,3)(2,4)(2,5)(2,6)(3,1)(3,2)(3,3)(3,4)(3,5)(3,6)(4,1)(4,2)(4,3)(4,4)(4,5)(4,6)(5,1)(5,2)(5,3)(5,4)(5,5)(5,6)(6,1)(6,2)(6,3)(6,4)(6,5)(6,6)}

a)there are six possibilities to get the same number....so the probability is 6/36=1/6

b)there are eight possibilities to get the difference the numbers as 2 which are {(1,3)(3,1)(2,4)(4,2)(3,5)(5,3)(6,4)(4,6)}

so the probability is 8/36=2/9

The no.of possible outcomes are 36.

(a)the numbers are same
The favourable outcomes are (1,1)(2,2)(3,3)(4,4)(5,5)(6,6)

No. of favourable outcomes are 6
So, probability =6/36=1/6

(b)the difference between the two numbers is 2
The favourable outcomes are (1,3)(2,4)(3,1)(3,5)(4,2)(5,3)(4,6)(6,4)

The no.of favourable outcomes are 8
So, probability =8/36=2/9
