Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Marked Price = Rs.1000

First Discount = 20% of Rs.1000 = Rs.200

Selling Price = Rs.(1000 - 200) = Rs.800

Second Discount = 5% of Rs.800 = Rs.40

Hence, final selling price = Rs.(800 - 40) = Rs.760

Total Discount = Rs.(200 + 40) = Rs.240

Discount% = 240/1000 × 100 = 24%

Therefore, 24% discount is equivalent to these two successive discounts.
