Re-write the following in simple terms:

A male DOB 2/08/76 brought to the ER suffering ipsilateral puncture wounds to the chest, with resultant laceration of the pericardium. The more lateral wound penetrates intracostally into the left pleural sac and runs medially to the sternum. Contralateral transverse fractures of the 6th and 7th ribs with superficial contusions and minor dermabrasion.

Palpation of the abdomen suggests possible hepatic trauma. Discolouration and distention indicative of haemhorrage. Auresis and patient complaint of pain lateral to L1 vertebra suggestive of nephritic injury.
