When silver nitrate reacts with potassium bromide, potassium displaces silver and forms potassium nitrate and the leftover silver reacts with bromide to form silver bromide. The reaction is as follows:
AgNO3 + KBr → KNO3 + AgBr

This is a double displacement or double replacement reaction.
