CO2 or carbon dioxide is commonly tested with aid of it's reaction with lime water.
CO2 is colourless and cannot be detected with our naked eyes. The reaction can be stated as:-

Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) = CaCO3(s)+ H2O(l)
