Answer:
The chemical name for baking soda is sodium bicarbonate and the chemical formula is Na2CO3.
By allowing the chemical reaction of carbon dioxide (CO2) + water (H2O) + ammonia (NH3) + sodium ion (Na+) sodium hydrogen bicarbonate (NaHCO3) + ammonium cation (NH+4) are obtained.
Further reaction of sodium hydrogen bicarbonate (NaHCO3) produces sodium bicarbonate (Na2CO3) + carbon dioxide (CO2) + water (H2O). Baking soda acts as an antacid and it is used to reduce acidity and treat stomach upset and indigestion.
It is also used as a water softener in washing.
