When Benzoic acid reacts with Calcium Oxide It Breaks and Release Benzene' & Calcium Carbonate.

↔ C₆H₅COOH + CaO ---(Heat)---→  C₆H₆ + CaCO₃

↔ "Benzoic acid + Calcium Oxide ---(Heat)--→ Benzene + Calcium Carbonate"

⇒This reaction is first performed by German Chemist → "Eilhardt" , He synthesized  Benzene By Heating Benzoic acid with Calcium Oxide .

⇒ This reaction is an example of Decarboxylation .

Hope it Helps.
