2Cu + 2HCl gives 2CuCl+H2

The reaction is as follows :

Cu + 2HCl\implies CuCl_{2}+H_{2}  

    [ dilute ]

                                     Note

  • Copper normally does not react with HCl
  • It only reacts when HCl is dilute
