When aluminum is added to copper sulphate solution, displacement reaction takes place. This means , aluminum being more reactive than copper..displaces it from its salt solution. Aluminium will displace copper from copper sulphate solution because Al is more reactive than Cu.

In the activity series of metals aluminum is more reactive than copper.

So aluminum can displace copper from it's salt solution.

CuSO4 + Al------) Al2(SO4)3 + Cu.

As the reaction proceeds

The blue color of copper sulphate decolorizes.

Solution turn colourless .

Red colour copper is deposited on the aluminum strip. .

Hope it helps you ..........
