Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from the compound . Both metal and nonmetal take place in displacement reaction

Metals which has less reduction potential than hydrogen or which are more reactive than hydrogen, when reacted with acids such as hcl(hydrochloric acid) and h2so4(sulphuric acid) displaces hydrogen from its compound...

e.g. Mg + 2HCl --> MgCl2 + H2

Therefore reaction of metals with acids can be an example displacement reaction..
