ACTIVITY:-  

                Set apparatus as shown in figure in class 10 ncert science text page 19   fig.2.1

               Take about 5 ml of dilute sulphuric acid in a test tube and add few pieces of zinc granules into it

   OBSERVATION:-  

                            We can observes some gas evolved.

   allow the gas to pass through soap solution .we saw some bubbles are formed in the soap solution . Take a burning candle near a gas filled bubble.Then the bubble will burn with a pop sound.

              From this activity we can conclude that acid react with metal to give salt hydrogen gas.

           acid+metal⇒salt+hydrogen gas

Reactions of acids with metals. Acids react with most metals and, when they do, a salt is produced. But unlike the reaction between acids and bases, we do not get water. ... It doesn't matter which metal or which acid is used, if there is a reaction we always get hydrogen gas as well as the salt.
