Non metal on do not react with dil. acids but they react with concentrated acids

example:

S + 2(H2SO4) → 3(SO2) + 2(H20)
S + 6(HNO3) → H2SO4 + 6(NO2) + 2(H2O)

Hfhdhkgdd: Can u write reaction of non metal with acids to form hydrides
manavukani: non metals do not react with dil. acids bcoz it is an acceptor of electrons. it cannot supply H ions to acids to reduce them to hydrogen gas

In the same way sulphur reacts with oxygen of air to format acidity sulphur dioxide. not metals do not react with dilute acid and don't displace hydrogen from dilute acid, because non-metal are electron acceptor. So, they cannot supply electrons to H+ions. So, they do not displace hydrogen from dilute acid
