What is Peptization?

=> The process of converting precipitate into colloid by shaking it with a suitable electrolyte.

  • The electrolyte which is added is called a peptizing agent.

Ex: Small amount of dilute hydrochloric acid to stannic oxide precipitate gives a stable sol of stannic oxide.
