‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ is a novel written by Roald Dahl (1916 – 1990).
It was made into a movie of the same name, starring Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore in 2005, directed by Tim Burton. It became one of the highest grossing movies of that time.
The story is about Charlie - a boy from a poor family, who wins one of the five tickets to tour the Wonka Chocolate factory. The other four children are quickly ‘lost’ in the amazing and magnificent Wonka factory and only Charlie remains. It was then that Willy Wonka the owner, tells him that he has ‘eliminated’ the others because of their bad qualities and he wants to make Charlie, the heir to the factory.

This was was comprehensive, descriptive and well written work about the life of a poor boy whose family survived off of the income of only person. As the only earning- person losses the chance of getting a livelihood, Charlie, the main boy gets a chance to visit the legendary chocolate factory, famous all around the world.
Its pure luck as to how he receives a golden ticket to be able to make his way into the factory.
This factory portrays mystical creatures, who are not only entertaining but mesmerizing as well. The ending is the best in which the boy ends up creating an impact on the owner of the chocolate factory, how his love for his family is greater than anything, and he ends up getting the factory.
The lonely owner of the factory gets the love and support of a family which he never had and the poor boy inherits the factory, solving the money problems his family had.
Amazing concept especially in the detailing of the incidents and characters, their traits and personality.
