Ozone formation requires two oxygen molecules.Oxygen molecule(O2) is very stable hence energy is given to separate them out.

Afrer they are separated the oxygen atom combines with other oxygen molecule to form ozone.

Ozone is a layer in the stratophere region of earth.It prevents the earth from the harmful Ultra violet rays from Sun to enter the earth which can cause skin cancer and varios other diseases
