mahatma gandhi was always against violence and included this in all his reforms and movements.....non cooperation movement launched by him aimed to not to cooperate britishers in any way , bit peacefully....however while this movement was being carried out , an incident in chauri chaura , UP led the natives to burn down a police station and many British police mem died.... therefore being a supporter of non violence gandhi ji took down this movement and also proved that wrong is always wrong even if it is done by you own people....
